An Embarrassment of Riches
A message of truth
can come at any moment
from any being
The transmitter
of the message
may be unassuming
wearing the guise
of an innocent
a madman perhaps
your own worst enemy
The sage we seek
in flowing robes
may inhabit
the body of a bug
a tree
water wind
sand sun
So be careful
whom or what you scorn
or quash or even follow
with undying devotion
while your nameless guru
scuttles away on six legs
or dissolves with the evaporating dew
“These poems are vulnerable and confident, playful and achingly tender…I am always lighter after reading [Sansone’s] poetry.”
— Maureen Buchanan Jones, Executive Director of Amherst Writers & Artists
